Events and crafts in Val Pettorina, in the Marmolada area
A large number of events are held in Val Pettorina throughout the year, with something to interest everyone.
Countless walks, some by torchlight, are organised by hiking groups, who provide visitors with expert guides able to accompany them around the beautiful natural landscape of the Val Pettorina.
In winter, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy skiing, with night-time races held on the nearby slopes of Zoldo, some of them reserved for the more experienced, and lots of fun to be had on the runs of the Sella Ronda and the Dolomiti Superski area.
During the summer, the Sella Ronda Bike Day and the “Dles Dolomites” Marathon attract huge crowds of cycling fans each year, with both thrilling competitive races and other non-competitive events.
A fun way to get to know the area and the traditions of the local people is the ciaspe trail that runs from Malga Ciapela towards the Gran Pian. Following the course of the Pettorina torrent and lasting little more than an hour, the trail offers walkers the chance to learn about trades of the past, which are perfectly represented in the silence of the woods, in an atmosphere of days gone by.
The Val Pettorina is internationally famous for wrought iron working, and the road of the Serrai di Sottoguda recalls and promotes the art of local craftsmen, with numerous iron statues positioned along the way.
